Chrysler is recalling approximately 5,663 2013 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Ram 1500 vehicles because their automatic transmission components could fracture, according to Chrysler.

Chrysler said the affected models are equipped with a "specific set of features and equipment," including 4x4 or all-wheel drive, a V6 engine, and an eight-speed transmission.

"Output shafts installed in some 2013 vehicles were shaped using a two-stage forging method employed during early production," said Chrysler in a statement.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not commented on the recall as of press time.

Chrysler dealers are being told to inspect and test the transmission output shafts and, if necessary, replace the transmission assemblies.

No injuries or accidents have occurred as a result of the issue.

"The resulting components may be subject to fracture in rare circumstances," said Chrysler in a statement. "The process has been replaced by a single-stage forging method."

Chrysler has not set a specific date for the recall yet.
