Medical Jet Crash in Florida Leaves at Least 2 Dead, Coast Guard Still Searching For 2 Others

A medical jet crashed off the coast of Florida this week, killing four people, according to CNN.

Only two bodies have been recovered by the U.S. Coast guard, though they're still looking for two other bodies as of press time.

The aircraft was carrying medical supplies when it crashed at 8 p.m. on Nov. 19. It had taken off from Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and was heading to Cozumel in Mexico, to deliver its supplies.

The families of the deceased, believed to have been a pilot, co-pilot, a nurse, and doctor, have been informed of the crash, according to CNN.

Local police and fire departments have assisted the Coast guard in the search, as well as the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Divers have searched underwater near the crash site that's approximately five miles wide and six miles long.

A full investigation of the incident has been opened by the National Transportation Safety Board, but it could take months to figure out what happened exactly.

The Coast Guard has recovered over 1,000 lbs of debris from the crash, though some of the debris also spread as far as Boynton Beach, according to CNN.

Locals who happen to find debris from the crash have been told not to touch it.
