Renault-Based Mitsubishi Sedan to be Sold in The U.S.

Mitsubishi has revealed that it will introduce a new, Renault-based, midsize sedan in the U.S., according to Edmunds.

Mitsubishi hasn't provided a midsize sedan in the U.S. since its Galant vehicle, which was discontinued after the 2012 model.

Details regarding the new car, like its name, launch date, and price, have yet to be revealed.

Two Renault-based sedans will be sold by Mitsubishi, but neither company has said which Renault model would be used as the base for the new vehicles.

"(The companies will) explore several new projects covering products, technologies and manufacturing capacity among the automakers," according to Mitsubishi.

The new Mitsubishi sedan is expected to compete in the same segment as vehicles like the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry.

Mitsubishi has confirmed that the midsize sedan will be built at the Renault-Samsung plant in Busan, South Korea.

The second sedan will compete in the global C segment. The manufacturing location for the second vehicle has not been revealed yet.

The two companies are also planning on developing an electric car and a new compact car, according to Edmunds.
