2013 Tokyo Auto Show: 2015 Lexus RC Coupe Four-Seater to Replace The Lexus SC, LFA

Lexus' prototype 2015 RC Coupe will make its official debut at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show, according to the automaker.

The RC Coupe is an important vehicle for the automaker since it was designed to fill the void left by the now discontinued Lexus SC coupe and the Lexus LFA.

Production of the SC ended in 2010 and the final LFA hasn't been built since December 2012.

Lexus has not revealed when it will start production for the new RC Coupe, but described the vehicle as a "concept-to-reality" vehicle.

The new Lexus will be equipped with either a 3.5-liter V6 or, in hybrid form, with a 2.5-liter engine. Further technical specifications have not been released yet by the automaker.

The 2015 Lexus RC 350 comes with a V6 engine, while the 2015 Lexus RC 300h gets the hybrid system.

Both options come with a 107.5-inch wheelbase and are approximately 184.8 inches long. This makes both vehicles around the same size as of Lexus' current IS sedan.

The car features "the widest and lowest application yet seen of the Lexus spindle grille" according to the automaker.

"Triangular headlamps evoke the sporty characteristics of the LF-LC styling," said Toyota in a statement.

The Tokyo Auto Show is scheduled to take place on November 20.
