ISC to Improve Multimedia at All Race Tracks with Hi-Def Video, Wi-Fi, 4G Cell Coverage

International Speedway Corporation has unveiled a plan for the ultimate fan experience, complete with multimedia content at all its facilities.

As an addition to the live on-track racing action, multimedia content will be available on hi-def video screens throughout the racetrack, a press release said. Fans will also be able to stream content on their smartphones and other handheld devices while sharing their race day experience through social media platforms.

"With all the wonderful content available at-track, race fans are consuming our sport much differently today than a decade ago and they are sharing those experiences with friends across the country," said ISC CEO Lesa France Kennedy.

The estimated $50 million in enhancements, which began this year and will continue through 2015, focus on digital, hi-def video screens; unique content at the track; and enhanced connectivity

"We're taking a strategic approach to provide the very best connectivity and superior multi-media content to further enrich the fan experience," Kennedy said in the press release. "We want to cater to all of our loyal fans in attendance and we are committed to making the necessary investments to provide the type of race day experience our fans expect from the leader in motorsports entertainment."

The multimedia plan will start next year at Talladega Speedway, where large hi-def video boards will be installed across all ISC tracks.

At the tracks, ISC will feature multimedia including up-to-the-second, live in-race and in-car cameras views, instant race data and other interactive race day content to enhance the live on-track action, said the press release.

Wireless Internet will be provided in premium camping and fan areas as well as in high-traffic spots. Service was already installed this year at Michigan International Speedway and Auto Club Speedway of Southern California.

ISC is also working to improve cellular coverage with 4G connectivity, which has already been implemented at Daytona International Speedway, Kansas Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway, and will be rolled out in Phoenix International Raceway, Talladega Superspeedway and Auto Club Speedway in 2014 and the remaining ISC facilities in 2015.
