Chrysler Debuts 2014 Jeep Cherokee Campaign with Special Video Series (WATCH)

Chrysler launched its 2014 Jeep Cherokee campaign Monday, debuting national advertisements for the new vehicle's fall release.

The company began shipping the new Jeep Cherokee to dealers last week after a delay due to software and transmission issues. The latest model continues Chrysler's tradition of allowing drivers to adventure in comfort and style, Chrysler said.

"The Jeep brand has a rich history steeped in the unrelenting pursuit of freedom," Olivier Francois, chief marketing officer, said in a press release. "The return of Jeep Cherokee and the 'Built Free' campaign serves as a reminder that we can fulfill our daily responsibilities and still follow our innate desire to explore new and different experiences."

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee features all-season tires; leather-trimmed seats that are front heated; an electronics system with Bluetooth and a touchscreen; keyless entry and startup; and a backup camera for parking.

The updated model redefines the mid-size SUV segment with nine-speed automatic transmission, fuel economy improvements of more than 45 percent (versus the outgoing Liberty model), superior on-road ride and handling and more than 70 advanced safety and security features, according to the press release.

The Built Free national marketing campaign has launched in broadcast, print and digital. The unique digital campaign includes the Jeep Cherokee's own online video series, "Tales of the Trailhawk."

"The series features the off-road capabilities of the Trailhawk model as it conquers each of the trail-rated criteria of traction, articulation, maneuverability, ground clearance and water fording on some of the most challenging terrain at Hell's Revenge in Moab, Utah, and Rubicon Trail in Lake Tahoe, CA," said the press release.

The Cherokee launch is considered the most important one, so reports of the delay were a cause for concern. Chrysler has replaced the Jeep Liberty with the new Cherokee, and it's expected to compete against the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape and other similar models.

Approximately 9,419 Cherokees were produced in September, according to Chrysler. Around 18,849 Cherokees have been built in 2013.
