Lodi Car Crash: Driver Seen on His Phone Speeding Through an Intersection Kills 5 (VIDEO)

Six people were killed during a six-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Ham Lane and West Vine Street in Lodi, Calif., on Oct. 23.

The five-car crash occurred at 5:30 p.m. in Lodi, which is 15 miles north of Stockton, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Among the deceased were Vivian Rodriguez, 31, who was seven months pregnant, Luis Miranda, 30, Irving Miranda, 11, and two kids under the age of 6.

Police covered the bodies with tarps at the scene before removing them, according to the Lodi News-Sentinel.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the crash, though at least two witnesses said they saw a man in a tan SUV drive through the intersection while on his cell phone, according to the Lodi News-Sentinel.

"We don't know exactly what happened. It's a very complex scene," said officer Eric Bradley.

The man is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. He was also supposedly driving "at least 100 mph" said a witness according to UPI.

The incident has been called one of the worst in the history of the 60,000-person city, according to police.

A dozen others were injured during the crash, three of which were operated on the night of the crash.
