The latest products from Apple are predictably lighter and faster--and more surprisingly, less expensive.
Apple debuted two new MacBook Pro laptops in San Francisco on Tuesday, The Huffington Post reports.
Both the 13-inch and 15-inch versions of the new Apple laptops were introduced and are slightly smaller and lighter than their predecessors. The new models will have extended battery life of up to 9 hours for the 13-inch model and 8 for the 15-inch.
According to Apple, the new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro weighs 3.46 pounds, 0.11 pound less than the previous 13-inch model. The new 13-inch model is also 0.71 inch thin, 0.04 inch thinner than its predecessor, PCWorld reports. Apple did not provide specs for the larger model at the event.
The new models are updated with fourth generation Intel Core processors, the latest graphics, longer battery life, faster flash storage and next generation Wi-Fi, according to an Apple press release.
Apple also announced Tuesday that the iWork, which includes Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and iLife apps are now free with the purchase of every new Mac.
The graphics for both MacBooks will be 90 percent faster than before, and both will feature faster WiFi and Apple's new operating system, OS X Mavericks. Both are also "environmentally friendly" and highly recyclable, said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
The devices will be pre-installed with Apple's new OS X Mavericks, which will be available to everyone else as a free upgrade, according to PCMag.com.
Both the MacBooks, which will start shipping Tuesday, cost less than the last models with the new 13-inch version coming in at $1,299 and the 15-inch costing $1,999. The new prices represent a $400 and $200 reduction, respectively.
