Taylor Swift Releases New Track 'Sweeter Than Fiction' for British Biopic 'One Chance' (LISTEN)

Country darling turned pop star Taylor Swift embraces the 1980s on her new track, "Sweeter Than Fiction," penned with guitarist Jack Antonoff from fun. for the upcoming British biopic "One Chance," Entertainment Weekly reported.

"One Chance" portrays the real-life story of Paul Potts, a struggling store clerk who became an opera-singing sensation after winning "Britain's Got Talent" in 2007.

Directed by David Frankel and produced by Simon Cowell, "One Chance" is slated for an Oct. 25 release in the UK, according to Billboard.

"Sweeter Than Fiction," a New Wave-esque track that brings to mind songs featured in 1980s films such as "Pretty in Pink" or "The Breakfast Club," is sung from the perspective of a longtime fan who believed in a performer's talent early on.

"I've seen you fall, I've seen you crawl on your knees, eh eh," Swift sings during the opening verse. "I've seen you lost in a crowd, seen your colors fade."

The main subject of the song finds success in the chorus, where Swift celebrates, "There you'll stand ten feet tall, and I will say, 'I knew it all along'/I'll be one of the many saying, 'You made us proud.'"

Entertainment Weekly called the track, which will play over the end credits of the biopic, "uplifting without being hokey and sweet without being cloying."

Swift will also foray into the film world with an onscreen role in an upcoming movie adaptation of Lois Lowry's "The Giver," which will begin production next month.

The long-awaited film version of "The Giver" will also star Brenton Thwaites as Jonas, Jeff Bridges as The Giver and Meryl Streep as the Chief Elder. Swift will play Rosemary, the last teen mentored by The Giver before he meets Jonas.

In previous film roles, Swift voiced Audrey in 2012's "The Lorax" and played in ensemble romantic comedy "Valentine's Day" in 2010.
