Toyota Recall: 803,000 Vehicles Called Back in The U.S. Over Air-Condition Issue

Toyota is recalling approximately 803,000 vehicles in the U.S due to an issue with the air-conditioning condensers.

Toyota said that the defect has caused to two minor injuries, but no accidents, according to Edmunds.

"Water from the air-conditioning condenser unit housing could leak onto the airbag control module and cause a short circuit, resulting in illumination of the airbag warning light," said Toyota in a statement on Thursday. "In some instances, the airbag(s) could become disabled or could inadvertently deploy.

The recall includes the 2012-'13  Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, and Venza.

Toyota said loss of power assist could make it harder to steer.

"In limited instances, the power steering assist function could also become inoperable if a communication line in the airbag control module is damaged," Toyota said.

Dealers will be instructed to apply sealant and install a cover to the air-conditioning condenser unit-housing seam found above the airbag control module.

The recall is expected to begin in early November.

No information about the recall has been posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
