CoverGirl Releases First Look at Campaign Featuring Katy Perry (PHOTO)

Pop star Katy Perry has become the latest CoverGirl, People reported.

The blue-eyed songstress has long been known for her unique style, which can be vintage, sexy or whimsical depending on her desired look (and current hair color).

As the latest CoverGirl spokesmodel, Perry will be featured in a series of ads that will debut in the spring.

The simple first-look photo shows a fresh-faced Perry with a soft eye and bolder lip, styling bedhead and some '90s rocker-esque accessories.

"In addition to music, I've always considered makeup to be a powerful creative avenue of self-expression," Perry said in a statement. "I'm honored to partner with CoverGirl and share more colors and textures of my approach to beauty to inspire my audience."

The new ad series will spotlight "bold new beauty looks" from the Maryland-based cosmetics brand.

"Katy is the embodiment of a true CoverGirl-someone we root for, identify with, and get inspiration from," said Esi Eggleston Bracey, vice president and general manager. "We have been admirers of her music and her style for a long time, and are looking forward to a beautiful journey together."

Perry, who revealed to Women's Wear Daily that her beauty routine takes an hour and a half, will release her third album, "Prism," on Tuesday.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, 90-second clips of each song are already available on iTunes.

"You really can get a sense of the spectrum that Perry is covering on Prism: 'Birthday' is frothy throwback disco, 'This Is How We Do' is a bouncy party anthem, and 'This Moment' is a full-on chest-thumping inspirational ballad," the magazine said.

"Roar," the first single from Perry's new record, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Perry is the first woman, and second artist overall following Michael Jackson, in the 55-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to send five songs from the same album to No. 1.
