Toyota has become the latest automaker to offer car payment extensions to workers affected by the federal government shutdown.

Toyota Financial Services will defer up to three months of payments, according to a company press release.

The offer has been extended to Toyota and Lexus customers, including businesses and employees of businesses directly affected by the shutdown.

Nissan and Hyundai previously announced they'll allow people affected by the shutdown to defer there car payments.

"We are pleased to be able to provide some flexibility to our customers affected by this situation," said Al Smith, Toyota Financial Services group vice president of service operations, in a statement.

Infiniti and Nissan owners dealing with financial problems are getting car payment extension of up to 90 days.

More than 800,000 workers will not get paid during the shutdown, which has gone on for two weeks.

Customers who have been affected by the shutdown and have questions about their account options should contact Toyota Financial Services at 1-800-874-8822 or Lexus Financial Services at 1-800-874-7050.
