iPhone 6 Release Date, Rumors: New Device Due in Second Quarter of 2014?

The iPhone 6 may be out a lot sooner than most expect if current rumors are true.

Apple's next iPhone, believed to be the iPhone 6, may be released during the second quarter of next year, according to a report by Investor's Business Daily.

Brand new iPhone's aren't usually released within the same year as its predecessor, but that could all change in 2014.

"A source in the tech supply chain in China and Taiwan told Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White that the iPhone 6 is expected to launch in the second or third quarter of 2014. That would mean the rumored bigger-screen iPhone would come out between the start of April and end of September next year," the report says.

White isn't the only one to say that the iPhone 6 will be out during the second quarter of 2014 however.

Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Chris Caso has also said he believes the next Apple smartphone will be out towards the end of the second quarter of 2014, according to the International Business Times.

Caso said that Apple is feeling "pressured" to release a new iPhone sooner than usual because of its main rival Samsung and their ability to put out smartphones at a quicker pace.

Regardless of when the new iPhone is released, it will have a larger screen compared to the iPhone 5, 5S, and 5C.

Multiple media outlets have confirmed that the iPhone 6 will have a screen display size of approximately 5.7 inches to compete with bigger smartphones.

Other features the iPhone 6 is rumored to come equipped with includes a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, 64-bit A7 process, a 128 GB option, and a 12 MP camera.

Apple has yet to confirm or deny any release date or screen size rumors as of press time.
