The next generation of iPads, possibly including a 13-inch model, should be revealed on Oct. 22 just in time for the holiday rush.
The fifth-generation iPad will be thinner and lighter with an improved camera, according to reports from USA Today and leaked photos from the Daily Mail.
Analysts expect a price drop for iPads, which are now competing with Amazon's Kindle and Google's Nexus tablets, according to USA Today. Apple, which successfully launched a new series of iPhones last month, may be working on a 13-inch model for the next iPad, analysts say.
The iPad mini will also receive an update during the October event, according to Current Editorials. The second-generation iPad mini will come with Apple's A6 processor, which is currently used in the iPhone 5C, and in the recently discontinued iPhone 5.
The fifth-generation iPad will feature Apple's latest processor, the A7X. Apple has also been testing Touch ID, its new fingerprint sensor with the new iPad, which is expected to make it into the final product, as reported by Current Editorials.
New editions of the Macbook Pro and Mac Mini will be announced at the event, according to Current Editorials. Apple is also expected to announce a release date for the Mac pro, which should be available before December.
Both models are expected to be fitted with Intel's Haswell processors that boost speeds and battery life, according to the Daily Mail. The new products may give another boost to Apple stock (AAPL), which fell below $400 in April but has since climbed to nearly $500.
According to the Daily Mail, since Apple historically launches products on a Tuesday, making them available for pre-order the following Friday, before putting them on sale the Friday of the week after, any new devices announced on Oct. 22 may be on sale by Nov. 1.
