Tokyo Motor Show 2013: Mitsubishi to Unveil Three New Cars

Mitsubishi Motors has officially announced it will unveil three concept cars at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013.

By incorporating a new design identity that "symbolizes the sense of security and functionality of an SUV," the brand new models include Mitsubishi's next-generation advanced technologies to provide environmental responsibility, driving pleasure, and safety, according to a press release issued by the automaker.

The first of the new vehicles confirmed for the show is the Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV.

Mitsubishi's next-generation full-size SUV uses a high output plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system, and offers "dynamic drivability of an SUV" and "class-leading environmental performance" according to the automaker.

The concept GC-PHEV is a "connected" vehicle that also provides driver support technology and next-generation preventive safety through wireless connectivity.

The second confirmed vehicle is the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV, a next-generation compact SUV equipped with a lightweight and highly efficient PHEV system.

Mitsubishi's Concept XR-PHEV offers "nimble drivability" and a body style that resembles a sports vehicle, according to the automaker.

The third vehicle confirmed for the show is the MITSUBISHI Concept AR. Advertised by the automaker as a next-generation compact MPV, the vehicle offers the mobility of an SUV and the space of an MPV.

The latest fuel efficiency technologies found in the new vehicle include a downsized direct-injection turbocharged engine.
