Hyundai Debuts Zombie Survival Machine at 2013 New York Comic Con: AMC's The Walking Dead Inspired Fan-Designed Car

For anyone fretting about an impending zombie apocalypse or just really excited about The Walking Dead's fourth season, Hyundai will unveil the new Santa Fe Zombie Survival Machine this weekend at the 2013 New York Comic Con.

One of more than 82,500 fan submissions, the car's crossover design features knife blades, an automatic crossbow, razor-wired windows, three machine guns, a samurai sword, aluminum armor and a muffler silencer, according to a Hyundai press release.

The vehicle, which was designed by Anson Kuo through the Walking Dead Chop Shop configurator app, will be displayed Thursday on the show floor.

"We love Anson Kuo's take on this Santa Fe Zombie Survival Machine. It's creative-and deadly," said Steve Shannon, vice president of marketing.

Kuo, an Arizona resident, wanted to create a vehicle that is both stealthy and well-stocked, featuring plenty of room for passengers and supplies, said the press release.

The urban camouflaged car designed to slaughter zombies uses knives as its primary weapon, which ensures that scarce ammunition is conserved, Kuo said in the press release.

Fans of The Walking Dead, which starts its fourth season next week, can get a feel for life in the zombie apocalypse at this year's Comic Con. Convention attendees can climb inside the new Zombie Survival Machine at the Future US booth and also get makeovers from a zombie make-up artist.

Stars from AMC's apocalyptic hit The Walking Dead, including Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan will appear at the four-day convention. AMC will show a first-look clip from its season premiere and hold a panel with its stars, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The cable network will also have a haunted-house-style attraction, The Walking Dead Escape, where zombies chase survivors through an obstacle course at the nearby Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

The Hyundai and Future US display will be located at Booth #542 on the show floor. For more information, go to newyorkcomiccon.com.
