iPhone 5S Release Date Rumors: Fingerprint Scanner Feature Confirmed?

Rumors have been circulating for months over which features the next iPhone device will come equipped with, but thanks to a new photo leaked this week, the next iPhone will most likely come with fingerprint scanning technology.

A photo of a supposed iPhone 5S home button, leaked by French website NoWhereElse, shows a square object that could be used to power a fingerprint scanner.

Fingerprint scanning technology was rumored first in July 2012 when many media outlets believed the iPhone 5 would come equipped with a fingerprint scanner after Apple purchased AuthenTec, a security firm that holds a number of fingerprint-scanning patents.

The company released the iPhone 5 without the technology however, leading many to believe it would be included with whatever smartphone Apple decided to go with next.

Apple has not confirmed nor denied that the next iPhone will come equipped with a fingerprint scanner.

Other features that have been rumored for the next iPhone, which is believed to be the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, include:

-a 4.7-inch display

-graphite and gold color options

-wireless charging

-12-megapixel camera

-A7 quad core processor

Another smartphone called the iPhone 5C has also been rumored for the Sept. 10 media event.

Apple officially sent out invitations for its Sept. 10 event this week, which is set to take place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California at 10 a.m.
