Apple will soon let iPhone owners trade in their old phones for credit towards a new device.
Several media outlets like MacRumors claim Apple stores are training Apple Store employees to learn about the new trade-in program, which could go into effect next month.
CEO Tim Cook recently said during an earnings call that he wasn't "opposed" to the idea, but wouldn't confirm Apple was going ahead with it.
"I see channels doing it, and I like the environmental aspect of it, and so that part of it really is encouraging to me," Cook said according to CNN.com.
Blog site 9to5Mac said that some Apple stores around the country are already letting people trade in phones for credit.
People will be able to bring in an older phone, like the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, and they'll get a gift card which can be applied towards another iPhone.
Apple has supposedly scheduled a press event for Sept. 10 where the next iPhone device will debut.
The company has yet to announce whether or not the next device will be the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, but most experts agree the phone will be in stores about a week or so after the press event.
The iPhone 5 came out in September 2012, and the iPhone 4S was released in October 2011, so it wouldn't be out of the question to guess the iPhone 5S or 6 will be out sometime between then.
Some features that have been rumored include a 4.7-inch display, fingerprint scanner, and more than two color options.
