Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand Reports 3.38 Million Vehicles Sold Through July

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 3.38 million vehicles worldwide from January through July.

The company reported 466,100 vehicles were sent to customers in July alone according to a company press release.

"The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has produced a solid performance so far in a market situation that remains challenging," Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said in a press release on Tuesday.

North American deliveries increased 3.6 percent from 346,700 to 359,300 units during July according to the company press release.

Approximately .98 million vehicles were sent to customers in Europe during the first seven months of 2013.

Western Europe numbers decreased during the first seven months largely due to the bad market situation that's still going on. Deliveries fell in Western Europe by over 6.8 percent, from 528,200 to 492,400, compared to 2012.

"Given that the uncertain economic conditions will continue over the coming months, we are keeping a very close eye on developments in global automotive markets," said Klingler.

In Central and Eastern Europe the company delivered 154,900 vehicles to customers, and 90,600 in Russia according to the company press release.
