BMW officially revealed some details regarding its new M4 Concept model on Aug. 15 during a press conference at Pebble Beach, California.
The concept model is as close as the company could get to the real thing according to a company press release. The actual M4 is expected at either the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this January or the 2014 Geneva Auto Show in March.
BMW said previously that the M4 will replace the BMW M3 coupe.
The automaker has yet to announce what kind of engine will be used for the new vehicle but either a 3.0-liter six-cylinder or 4.0-liter is expected according to Edmunds.
The car is expected to achieve around 450 hp. Edmunds also believes six-speed manual and seven-speed paddle-shift automatic options will be made available.
"At BMW M, design is above all an expression of function. Each design element is based on the underlying technical demands of the BMW M high-performance concept," said Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW's group design chief, in a press statement. "Thanks to this authenticity, the design provides a taste of what can be experienced with each model: power, precise control and superior handling - an unforgettable driving experience on the racetrack as well as on the road."
A convertible version of the M4 will also be revealed later this year.
