Chrysler will recall approximately 270 2013 Fiat 500e electric vehicles to replace bolts according to the automaker's website.
The bolts keep the vehicles' half shaft secure according to the automaker. The issue is not related to the 500e's electric powertrain however.
No injuries or crashes have taken place as of press time.
"Half shafts transfer torque from a vehicle's gearbox to its wheels," said Chrysler in a press statement. "An investigation was launched after Chrysler Group learned a customer's vehicle exhibited power loss. Engineers discovered two assembly steps had not been properly completed, creating a condition that could lead to half shaft separation."
Owners of the vehicle will be eligible for a free rental until the problem is fixed.
Chrysler said owners will be contacted later this month. Dealers are also being notified since models up for sale may also be affected.
The NHTSA has not released a statement regarding the recall.
Those with more questions can contact Chrysler's customer service department at 1-800-247-9753.
