Spanish police have arrested eight people suspected of converting ordinary cars to resemble deluxe vehicles like Ferraris and then sold them for expensive prices.
Officers raided two garages in Spain where the conversions took place according to a police press statement.
"The supposed deluxe cars were advertised on two websites for about 40,000 euros ($53,000), compared to the more than 200,000 euros that an authentic model would cost on the legal market," the police said according to AFP.
At least 10 cars, 17 fake Ferraris and two imitation Aston Martins were seized.
The eight suspects made the fiber glass pieces to transform cars and faked badges for deluxe models according to police.
Fake Ferrari-labeled brake calipers and Ferrari wheels were also made by the crooks.
"The final appearance of the supposed deluxe vehicles in their external and internal design and even in the details of the engine simulated to perfection the look of the original models," the police statement said.
Police said that customers "knew" they were buying a fake car but did so anyway.
