N.C. Deck Collapses in Ocean Isle Beach Injuring 21 (VIDEO)

A deck collapsed at a condo in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. on July 9 according to the Associated Press.

Approximately 21 people were injured and taken to a hospital after the second-story deck collapsed onto a patio below.

The deck collapsed at approximately 8:15 p.m.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, though some of the victims suffered major cuts and broken bones according to Emergency Services Director Anthony Marzano.

At least 13 people were transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Of the injured admitted to the medical center 11 have since been released.

One person was admitted with a broken leg and another with a broken ankle according to the Associated Press.

Seven other people were taken to Brunswick Novant Medical Center in Supply and one was flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Kelly Shorter, a nurse from West Virginia, who was on vacation nearby, went to the house as soon as she heard the deck collapsed and helped treat a number of the victims according to The Star News.

At least 25 people were on the deck at the time it collapsed.
