BMW has revealed a follow up to its 1 Series Gran Turismo previewing its Active Tourer model over a month before its official debut.
The Concept Active Tourer Outdoor model will be shown for the first time during a press conference at the OutDoor Friedrichshafen camping event in Germany next month according to MotorAuthority.com.
The vehicle will feature a "more rugged" design than its predecessor with rumored medications like a built-in tent.
"The second concept version of the BMW Concept Active Tourer being presented this summer is aimed at meeting the special needs of an outdoor and leisure time oriented target group", said the automaker in its official press release.
The vehicle's name could mean the new car might be a slightly modified variation of the Active Tourer shown at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
BMW showed a number of its first ever range of front-wheel-drive vehicles at the event according to CarAdvice.com.
The new BMW Active Tourer Outdoor Concept is powered by a 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo engine, mated to an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The vehicle's output stands at just over 190 HP and it has a peak torque of 200 Nm according to BMW.
The vehicle has a top speed of 124 mph and can go 0 to 100 in just 8 seconds.
BMW also confirmed the new model will be more comfortable and longer with additional an additional row of seats in the front.
The outdoor event takes place on July 12, 2013.
