Suspect Buried Alive for Rape in Bolivia by 200 Irate Villagers, Did he Deserve it? (VIDEO)

A teenager who was suspected of raping and killing a woman was buried alive by over 200 villagers in Bolivia's southern highlands this week.

Local authorities identified the individual, Santos Ramos, 17, as a "possible" suspect in the attack on 35-year-old Lendra Arias Janco on June 2 in Quechua community near Colquechaca according to the Associated Press.

The villagers grabbed Ramos and buried him alongside his supposed victim on June 5 according to Jose Luis Barrios, the chief prosecutor in Potosi province, where the community is located.

On June 6 the villagers "blocked" the road to the community to prevent police and prosecutors from reaching the grave site.

A local reporter, who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said that Ramos was tied up, thrown into the grave and then the woman's coffin was placed on top of him.

The villagers than filled the grave up with dirt until it was completely full according to the Associated Press.

Colquechaca is a town of 5,000 inhabitants located 200 miles south-east of Bolivia's capital, La Paz.

Bolivia's "community justice law" allows indigenous peoples to "enact their own penalties in addition to the nation's legal system" according to Newsmax Wires.

The new law states that convicted rapists will be chemically castrated by medical professionals. If a doctor refuses to perform the procedure, than a doctor with less training is brought in according to the law.
