Former NBA All-Star "Mookie" Blaylock has been charged with vehicular homicide after a head-on crash in Atlanta according to authorities.
Blaylock, 46, was also charged with failure to maintain his lane and driving on a suspended license, said Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen.
Blaylock was driving his Cadillac Escalade on May 31 in Clayton County, south of Atlanta, when he crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic, Jonesboro police chief Franklin Allen told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Cadillac hit a van, being driven by local resident Frankie Murphy, and his wife Monica Murphy was in the passenger's seat. Blaylock claims he blacked out right before the crash, but hasn't said anything else regarding the incident as of press time.
All three people were transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where Blaylock was put on life support.
Monica died just around 10 p.m. at the hospital facility, and Frankie, who sustained a broken ankle, was later let go after treatment according to ESPN.
Atlanta Medical Center spokeswoman Nicole Gustin said Blaylock was in fair condition on June 3. He was put on life support at the hospital, but his condition was upgraded according to CBS News.
"We are saddened to hear of the accident today involving Mookie Blaylock and the Murphy family and the ensuing passing of Monica Murphy," the Hawks said in a statement released to the Journal-Constitution. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved."
Blaylock was also wanted in Spalding County on charges of failure to appear in court, DUI and drug possession, Allen said.
He played with the Hawks from 1992 to 1999 and also spent time with the New Jersey Nets and Golden State Warriors.
