iPhone 5 Replacement Screen: Apple to Offer In-Store Assistance for $149 (VIDEO)

Apple announced this week that it will start repairing iPhone 5 displays in-store according to Macrumors.

The display repair option will be made available to those who have signed up for Apple's $99 AppleCare+ package.

The report claims that the repair will cost Apple customers approximately $149 to fix cracked iPhone 5 screens.

The repair will take approximately 10 minutes according to Macrumors.

The price along with the AppleCare+ package fee may seem a little pricey for some, but it's actually a lot less than other companies have been charging.

Quick iFix for example charged $174.99 to fix cracked displays, but has already lowered their price since Apple's announcement.

Apple initially said last fall that they would not repair broken iPhone 5 devices, forcing customers to pay for a replacement. The company has had a change of heart however, as it is easier for them to just repair the screen than to make phones that may not be sold.

Apple is expected to start their new display repair strategy in July. The company will also offer repairs to the iPhone's sleep/wake buttons, logic boards, and camera.

More changes to AppleCare are expected to be revealed this summer according to Macrumors.
