2014 GMC Sierra Denali Offers 420 HP, Claims Top Towing of 12,000 Pounds (PHOTOS/ VIDEO)

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup will offer an optional 6.2-liter V8 engine once it is released this fall.

The new EcoTec3 engine features direct injection, variable valve timing, and active fuel management according to a GM press release.

The engine has a preliminary rating of 420hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The base engine in the new Sierra Denali is a 355-hp 5.3-liter V8.

"The 2014 Sierra Denali has a combination of performance, capability and luxury that no other pickup can match," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC marketing, in a press statement. "It leaves no boxes unchecked for those owners looking for the ultimate expression of 'Professional Grade.'"

The news comes a day after GM revealed its new Corvette will go on sale with 455 hp, or 460 hp with optional high-performance exhaust.

GMC claims the vehicle will be its most powerful yet, with the capability to tow 12,000 lbs according to GM.

Other features include a custom chrome grille design, stainless-steel exhaust tip and body-color front, and 20-inch wheels.

The interior includes a Bose audio system, heated steering and aluminum trim. The vehicle comes equipped with an 8-inch navigation radio and an 8-inch customizable driver display.

Pricing for the new truck has not been revealed as of press time. The 2013 Sierra Denali rear-wheel drive goes for around $48,000 and the four-wheel drive goes for $51,000, so it's expected to be at least more than those two options.
