The family's SUV crashed into a flowing irrigation canal and submerged on May 26 at around 8 a.m. near George, Wash according to the Associated Press.

Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison released the victims' names on May 27.

Dioselina Buenrostro, 33, Gabriel Ochoa, 35, and two girls, Yesenia "Jessie" Ochoa, 4 and Sandra Ochoa, 9, were all killed in the crash according to the Spokesman Review. The family hailed from Stanwood, Washington.

"Our prayers and thoughts are with this family's loved ones," Grant County Coroner Craig Morisson said in a press statement. "In my 21 years in law enforcement, this is the most tragic, single incident I have ever been to."

The SUV crashed into a compact car at an intersection near the Gorge Amphitheater, then hit a guardrail and plunged into the canal according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

The SUV submerged and was pulled with the current about 100 yards downstream according to the Associated Press.

The two adults died at the scene of the incident, and the girls died shortly after being taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

Autopsies on the family were performed on Monday but the current belief is that the family most likely drowned according to the Associated Press.

The driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries and was also taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center.
