Tesla Model X is now being offered with seven-seat and foldable second-row variant. This is the automaker's effort to satisfy customer's concern on less cargo space.
Tesla has updated its official site for Model X that now specifies the new variant. Apparently, the automaker has revised the second-row seats of the model. Instead of the latest "floating" second-row monopost base, the company has replaced it with the conventional frame mount that slides. The second-row seats can now be folded flat to provide more room for cargo space.
Tesla explained that they have received significant criticism from current owners of the Model X. Unfortunately, users compared it to its sibling, Model S and have complained on the less cargo space of the former.
The second-row seat of the Model X features the state-of-the-art "floating" monopost base. This type of seat allows each seat to individually adjust and at the same time, provides enough space underneath.
Unfortunately, owners did not enjoy this type of second-row seats and opted the traditional foldable-seats for more cargo space. Hence, Tesla has updated the Model X in consideration of the customer's cargo space concern.
The five-seat variant gets this new foldable second-row seats. Whereas, the six-seat variant only gets the foldable seats on the third row.
Furthermore, Tesla has also added a seven-seat variant of Model X. This variant is similar with the five-seat variant, except that the automaker has added two more seats on the trunk, creating three rows of seats now. This new option can seat more people and house more cargo as both the second and third rows of seats can be folded flat.
This new foldable row of seats will add $3,000 to the Model X. At this cost, owners can enjoy 88 sq-ft of cargo capacity.
