The 2018 Peugeot 508 has been spotted again on the road, yet still hiding in heavy wraps. The heavy camouflage of the prototype hints on a major design alteration of the upcoming 508. The fresh look seems to give the new sedan a sportier image.

Spy photos for the new 508 reveal that the form of the new sedan takes its inspiration from the 2014's Exalt concept. This is evident in the hood that is sweeping down to the grille. Whereas, the roof appears to smoothly flow down to the tail.

The four-door design of the new 508 drops the usual body form of its predecessor in saloon body shape. The new form provides a sportier image for the new model.

Furthermore, it also appears that the new car was based on a little longer wheelbase. Reports say that the new 508 will utilize the brand's EMP2 platform that trims down the weight of the new sedan.

On the inside, the new 508 is expected to feature the brand's latest i-Cockpit system. A 12.3-inch TFT display and an 8-inch touchscreen will most likely occupy the center console.

The second-generation i-Cockpit system is reportedly aiming to rival the Virtual Cockpit of Audi. The decreased dimension of the steering wheel will make space for this new i-Cockpit system to provide a driver-friendly layout on the new 508.

Peugeot has not confirmed the powertrains to offer, but car analysts expect a plug-in hybrid as one of the options. It will most likely come with the usual range of turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engines too.

Peugeot remains to be mum on the other details of the new model, although they have teased that sales will begin next year. In the meantime, speculations abound predicting the 2018 Peugeot 508 will probably have its grand launch at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show that will begin on Sept. 14.
