The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS has just made a surprise debut at the ongoing Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017. The brand did not confirm if the virtual model in the game "Forza Motorsport 7" will have the same performance with the final model once released.
This year's E3 has just opened its doors today, June 13th and staged the highly anticipated technology launches. Surprisingly, an auto-related revelation was also witnessed by game enthusiasts.
The Microsoft Xbox E3 press conference gave out a surprise debut of the new Porsche 911. In the conference, the announcement of the game "Forza Motrosport 7" also highlighted the participation of Porsche models in the game. The audience was surprised to spot the upcoming 2018 Porsche GT2 RS too.
The new 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS was uncovered in the flesh at the stage of the "Forza Motorsport 7." Apparently, the Forza racing franchise made a six-year contract with Porsche and the launch of the new supercar became the grand outlet to celebrate the momentous partnership. Furthermore, it was announced that the new 911 GT2 RS will be featured as the cover car for the new "Forza Motorsport 7."
The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is reportedly coming out to be the most powerful 911 beast. It will run with a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat six engine that can deliver 640 hp sent to the rear wheels.
Meanwhile, no other official details were unveiled in the said event. A Porsche staff even told Jalopnik that reports on the potential 911 GT successor based on the announcement of "Forza Motorsport 7" are plain speculations only.
The Porsche staff further mentioned that they will continue to be mum "on these rumors." However, the staff also teased, "don't rule out a surprise later in the year."
In the video below, Turn 10 Studios creative director Dan Greenawalt introduced the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS model on stage. He also discussed the features of the virtual model as it runs in the Xbox game, "Forza Motorsport 7." It remains to be seen if the performance of the virtual 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS model in the said game will have the same performance on the road when the final supercar is released.
