Mitsubishi has reportedly announced to bring back the Lancer Evolution model. Apparently, the plan is to launch the next Evo in a crossover body and after three to six years from now.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, which was launched in 2015, has been confirmed to have a successor. The company's global head Trevor Mann revealed their plans while going around their local operations this week.
Mann said, "In terms of the brand, I think it would be interesting to bring something back that's a bit more sporty in the future." The big boss also teased those car enthusiasts will have to anticipate to know what they are working on their table.
Furthermore, Mann also mentioned that the upcoming concept may not be the usual sedan that people are expecting of. According to Motoring, Mitsubishi's global boss implied that the new model will most likely come in an Evolution SUV form.
The new concept, which the Japanese brand is busy with on the design table, will require longer planning. Mann described it to be a "long-term rather than mid-term" plan. He detailed that the result of the new concept will probably come out between three to six years.
Meanwhile, the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution boasts of its capacity to dominate the road. Its onboard computer provides real-time monitoring of the road situation and automatically performs split-second adjustments.
It also features the Active Yaw Control (AYC) that shifts engine torque between the left and right rear wheels. This feature provides the driver the accurate traction and handling in any road condition.
The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution also runs with powerful turbocharged MVEC engine that can deliver 291 hp. The engine is also mated to a Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift transmission, making the engine combination to be an extremely hard to beat option.
