Why Is The 2018 Toyota CH-R Leading The Crossover Competition?

The 2018 Toyota CH-R is leading the competition as one of the best crossovers in the market. However, it is not all that perfect. It does have its fair share of fans and critics. Which brings up the question, "Why is still leading in the market?" Industry experts give the low-down on possible reasons.

The 2018 Toyota CH-R is Toyota's latest entry to the most in-demand vehicle category — crossovers. The crossover demand is skyrocketing as this easily is the public's go-to everyday vehicle. With so much to choose from, others go for the manufacturer that has proven its credibility over the years, in this case, Toyota.

The latest CH-R is considered a great option, particularly for millennials. Its design makes it attractive to the young drivers. Such drivers want to stand out, and that's exactly what they are getting with the CH-R.

Its sporty demeanor is interesting and unique. Some automakers try to make its crossovers look earth-shatteringly different to gain attention. However, this is not the case for the 2018 Toyota CH-R.

If it does exceptionally well in its aesthetics, it does need some improvement in terms of power. The latest CH-R comes with a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine, which is responsible for producing 144-horsepower coupled with CVT. There is no manual transmission option. Many industry experts think it can use a little bit more power because it seems underwhelming altogether.

The gas mileage is considered adequate. It has EPA of 27 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 29 mpg combined. This is reasonable enough but nothing stellar, so to speak.

Its best feature, however, is its safety technologies. Aside from its unique and sporty look, it is considered one of the best in safety. For one, automatic braking as standard is exceptional. Its safety feature does need some work in terms of its backup camera being embedded in the rear-view mirror and not in the center stack.

The CH-R is similar in size of Nissan Qashqai. This means it has reasonable boot size. It also has adequate head and legroom. The 2018 Toyota CH-R is not a perfect crossover, but with its design and safety, coupled with $22,500 price tag, it is a worthy option.
