Honda is definitely known for coming up with the best vehicles ever. Its decision is informed and well thought out. There is definitely a good reason why the 2017 Honda Civic Si retains the same horsepower as its predecessor.

Many have criticized Honda for such a decision. The 205-horsepower that the 2017 Honda Civic Si is the power that its 1.5-liter gasoline unit produces. However, torque has relatively improved by 18 more pound-feet to a total of 182 pound-feet.

As Honda engineers are ever innovative, it is definitely possible to have more power in its engine. However, doing so may compromise its reliability altogether. Rob Keough, Civic's senior product planner says that they want to make sure that the engine would last for hundreds and thousands of miles for of Hondas.

This will only be made possible by setting a limit to its power. Another important factor is for its price point. Honda is set on keeping its Civic Si in its $24,775 price tag. Squeezing in more power may make it more expensive.

Rob Keough also added that they want to make the Civic Si more attainable and affordable. However, Honda is also open to the possibility of having a slot between Si and Type R. This is dependent on how the market demands such a vehicle.

Car enthusiasts and experts may somehow be appeased for hearing what Honda has to say. Interestingly enough, another type of vehicle may be produced to address the need for more power and speed. It is just a matter of time.

The 2017 Honda Civic Si also has 25 percent more rigidity and an approximately 100-pound weight advantage compared to the previous Civic Si. The exterior upgrades are easier to spot. Its revised bumper with larger openings is not hard to miss. It makes the Civic Si look more attractive.
