BMW Motorrad Unveils A Sleek And Futuristic Zero-Emission Smart Scooter [PHOTO, VIDEO]

BMW Motorrad, the German carmaker's motorcycle division, unveiled its latest concept bike. Dubbed the Concept Link, the two-wheeled vehicle is an all-electric zero-emission smart scooter with a sleek and futuristic design.

BMW Motorrad showed off the Concept Link at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2017 last weekend as inspired by its BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 from 2016. BMW wanted to present its vision for the future of motorcycles as it merged two ideas in its concept: digital connectivity and urban mobility.

"[The BMW Motorrad Concept Link] links the digital and analog world and places the focus on the rider and his mobility needs," BMW Motorrad Head of Design Edgar Heinrich said, as per the press release. "In the way it links functionality and digitalization it performs both as a means of transport as well as a communication device."

The smart scooter has LEC lights and a neon orange windscreen. Its slim contours and sleek form could blend well in a science fiction movie, The Verge reported.

In introducing the smart scooter, BMW presented a rider donning a connected jacket that allowed him to "communicate" with his bike. Found in the middle and right below the handlebars is a programmable touchscreen dashboard that links the rider-on-the-go to his speed settings, battery power, music selections and a calendar for mapping out the fastest routes to his schedules.

This smart scooter also features an electric battery pack found on the base. It has an automatically adjusting seat to suit the rider's preference, as per Daily Mail.

Speed and power are also big features of this concept bike but BMW did not completely divulge the specs. The company stated in its press release that the diameter of the battery pack should "hint at the power in the drive unit." Take a look at BMW Motorrad Concept Link in the video below.
