The Czech automaker, Skoda, is giving its flagship vehicle known as the 2018 Skoda Superb a new infotainment system that features a glass design. Skoda's four-door cruiser is already known to be luxurious, but with the new set of upgrades, it should increase the sedan's premium appeal.
The update somewhat is similar to the Octavia facelift. The Amundsen and Bolero systems have increased from 6.5 to 8 inches, while the flagship Columbus now measures 9.2 inches instead of 8. The entry-level Swing setup is also being promoted to 6.5-inch diagonal from the previous 5-inch setup.
In addition, Park Distance Control will also be making its debut on the 2018 Skoda Superb that comes along with an extended feature of the Manoeuvre Assist system, which is capable of detecting obstacles in front of the vehicle. If the driver ignores the audio and visual warnings, the system will automatically enable the brakes to reduce the possibility of an accident.
The 2018 model year is also expected to come with an optional massage function for the driver's seat, but this is only available on the more expensive electrically adjustable variant with ventilation and memory functions. Another new feature is the Digital Voice Enhancement, which is a microphone that is mounted in the front letting the driver and the passenger to talk to those on the back seats.
The automaker also claims that the Superb's cabin is now quieter because of the brand new acoustic film that is located between the two glass surfaces of the front side windows. Also available on the inside is the roofline for the top of the range Laurin and Klement version that can now be ordered in black.
Furthermore, the L&K gets new chrome strips located on the side buffers and doors for a better high-end feel. The cabin updates have been followed by a new set of 19-inch Acamar alloy wheels as well as a new shade called Velvet Red.
It's a bit odd that the Superb will still feature the bi-xenon lights headlights whereas the Kodiaq, Octavia, and the upcoming Karoq will have an all-LED setup. The new and updated 2018 Skoda Superb is set to go on sale in European markets from next week onwards and is anticipated to be sold as a 2018 model year vehicle.
