The 2018 Jaguar XE SVR has been spotted while testing. Spy photos seem to confirm the new SVR is launching soon with more muscular form and new tweaks on the rear section.
The 2018 Jaguar XE SVR is the brand's very first pursuit in jumping into the level of the Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63. The automaker has only developed the SVR badge for the Range Rover Sport and F-Type, and this will be the first for the XE model.
With the mule testing, it seems that Jaguar Land Rover is preparing to launch an SVR model of the Jaguar XE. It also hints that the new model is now in the finishing stage and could go on sale anytime soon.
The mule spotted wears heavy camouflage while testing. However, the form of the new car under wraps shows a muscular style.
It can also be noticed that the front end is linked by extended side skirts. The rear bumper also carries four exhausts. The new XE SVR uses large alloy wheels. Huge sports brakes can also be seen that come with red calipers.
With the SVR line up, the new Jaguar XE SVR is expected to use a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The new XE SVR is predicted to deliver 500 bhp only, instead of the usual 567bhp and 700Nm of torque in the F-Type SVR.
The new XE is speculated to be a four-wheel drive setup. The theory is based on its siblings, Range Rover Sport and F-Type SVR, which also come with four-wheel drive setup.
In terms of acceleration rate, the current XE S can reach 0 to 62mph in 5.1 seconds. It is expected that the upgraded XE SVR can perform faster than 5.1 seconds, presumably about 4 seconds.
Meanwhile, SVO heads have already shared the brand's plan to introduce high-performance base models to be closely similar to the launch model. Apparently, Audi is doing the same strategy now with its RS models.
Moreover, John Edwards, boss at the SVO division, told AutoExpress that they are also considering to implement the SVR treatment in the new electric i-Pace SUV. John Edwards teased, "Of course it's something we'll look at."
The Jaguar XE SVR is predicted to come with a $83,700 (£65,000) price tag. Prior to its release, the automaker is reportedly coming out with a limited edition Jaguar XE SV Project 8 that is set to be launched next month. Apparently, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is an extreme performance road car that will only be limited to 300 units. As for more news and updates, follow Auto World News.
