The recently spied 2018 Volvo XC40 hreveals interesting details. This time, the information on its interior is made available. Based on observations, the XC40 is one of the best of its kind upon official release. When did Volvo ever go wrong, anyway?
This is not the first time the 2018 Volvo XC40 has been spied on. Its former sightings did not offer much of the vehicle because of its heavy camo. Now, its interior details are within reach. Taking spy photos, however, is a daunting task but the relentless photogs managed to have close shots of Volvo's upcoming compact crossover.
Its dashboard is home to a slew of the all-digital instrument cluster. It also boasts of a portrait-oriented touch screen. This is apparently the same as that of the larger XC60 and XC90. It has glossy black framing, which makes it professional and classic.
Its vertical air vents interestingly look similar to the S90 instead of its bigger counterparts, the XC60 and XC90. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is borrowed from R-Design models. It is, however, slightly modified for having a matte finish on the spokes.
The 2018 Volvo XC40 is also reported to be heavily inspired by 2016's 40.1 concept. This is so because of its side window line which makes its way upwards as it nears the C-pillars. Its interior also comes in predominantly gray and black plastic.
The 2018 XC40 is reported to be based on CMA or Compact Modular Architecture, which Volvo is developing for Geely. It will also be found on the upcoming S40 sedan and replacement for the V40 hatch.
The 2018 Volvo XC40 is expected to be powered by a range of three- and four- cylinder engines. The XC40 to be released in the US may be a turbocharged four-cylinder. A hybrid model may be in the works as well.
