2017 Honda Civic Type R: A Truly High-Performance Machine

There were a lot of car fans that has been slobbering over this 2017 Honda Civic Type R for years. Japan and Europe always had a version of this car, and as it arrived in the US, it is surely worth the wait.

The total look of this car is like a 2017 Honda Civic hatchback that spent a full weekend in the hands of a prop master from the Fast and Furious. With its looks, it comes with some of an outlandish wing, a hood scoop, fiddly aerodynamic appendages, high-bolstered red seats with race-harness pass-through holes, a dubious triad of tailpipes and red Honda badges.

To prove that this 2017 Honda Civic Type R is a seriously desirable machine, one should check out the car's under the hood system and inside its wheel wells. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder VTEC engine powers this Japanese beast with a variable intake and exhaust timing that belts out 306 of horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque using a 91 octane fuel. The Type R was also rated at 22/28/25 mpg city/highway/combined, beating most rivals. These are just the reasons why fans have been clamoring to get their hands on this one.

For the transmission, the only one that is available is the six-speed manual, which benefits from a short-throw shifter and shorter final-drive ratio to enhance the vehicle's acceleration as well as its responsiveness. As to the gearbox, it also works with the engine control unit (ECU) to enable rev-matching.

Certain upgrades also had to be made for the 2017 Honda Civic Type R to control the much power flowing through the front wheels. An additional benefit also comes from the variable-ratio adjusting in the dual-pinion electric power steering system. When it comes to invisible upgrades, it has to do something with a lot of extra rigidity added to the body, which is made even stiffer with the applied structural adhesive at the joints of the body shells. This car is a genuinely impressive road beast that shows aggressiveness and balance.
