The 2018 BMW M2 update has been accidentally revealed on an official website. This definitely was good for car enthusiasts eagerly waiting for updates on the said car. However, it is the other way around for BMW which may intentionally be keeping M2's information as elusive as it can be.

Even when the photos are already taken down, it was there long enough for industry experts and car enthusiasts to save and draw conclusions from. After all, it is not their fault entirely. The images were captured by Bimmer Today before BMW Belgium removed it from the site.

Basing on the "accidental posted images," the updated M2 won't be too different than the one's currently available in showrooms. It is said that only trained eyes can spot the difference, especially that its major components were left unaltered such as its front and rear fascias and broader fenders.

The most obvious change can be found on the rear. From the images, it revealed that the 2018 BMW M2 comes in with revised tail-light clusters. The front also has some changes such as its new headlight internals with LED main and high beam units.

The 2018 M2's drivetrain may remain unchanged, as it will still be powered by 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six with 272kW of power at 6,500 rpm and 465 Nm of torque. Given this, its performance may still remain the same, accelerating from zero to 100 kph in 4.3-seconds for dual-clutch and 4.5-seconds for the six-speed manual. Its top speed will still be at 250 kph.

The 2018 BMW M2 is also described to receive minor facelift based on the images recently shown. It is noteworthy to mention that it may receive an upgraded interior because of BMW's iDrive infotainment system. Pertinent information on other interior updates has yet to be made available.
