The 2018 Hyundai i30 N is set to have its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The i30 N has had several sightings particularly when it was being tested on snow earlier this year. It showed intense performance and supreme handling.
Hyundai Europe chief designer, Thomas Burkle said that they have the N version of the i30 coming, as well a coupe version to also come in as N. He said this at the media launch of i30 SR hatchback in southern NSW, Australia earlier this week.
One of the notable features of the upcoming 2018 Hyundai i30 N Coupe is its reported protruding rear spoiler. This is also the same case for 300kW Hyundai RN30. Burkle said the protruding spoiler is essential in terms of the car's aerodynamic capacity.
It is important for the air stream to jump in the car so as not to create unnecessary turbulences. The sharp edge is continuing around. To make it even better, it also gives an entirely new and fresh character to the entire vehicle.
The i30 N Coupe will also get a multi-mode suspension and a front LSD in the top model. It will be powered by either an 184kW or 202kW 2.0-liter turbo tune. It will come initially with a six-speed manual transmission. However, seven-speed dual-clutch is set to follow in 2019.
Unfortunately, the 2018 Hyundai i30 N may not be available in the US. Hyundai models such as Elantra sedan or next-generation Veloster will come to States-side. This may come as a big disappointment to industry experts and car enthusiasts.
The 2018 Hyundai i30 N could've given a tough competition to the likes of Ford Focus ST and Volkswagen Golf GTI. The upcoming i30 N is reported to produce 246-horsepower as standard and even more powerful 271-horsepower in a more track-focused version.
The 2018 Hyundai i30 N is definitely worth the wait. Experts will definitely be awaiting its debut late this year to uncover its other capabilities. It may not head the US way, but it is expected to be one of Europe's best.
