It has been quite a while since Skoda had a pickup truck in its portfolio. With the recent Skoda Vision E Pickup making its rounds online, it is reported to just remain nothing but a concept. But why?

The renders of Skoda Vision E Pickup is very interesting and creative, to say the least. However, it is not going to happen. Skoda may have another pickup in its lineup of offerings but it may have to based of Volkswagen Amarok, a cheaper version of it actually. It may be like the second-generation Roomster to be rebadged as cheaper and more affordable Caddy.

Skoda did venture into the possibility of having a pickup years ago when it created the FUNstar. It was a Fabia-based single cab concept introduced at the Worthersee event back in 2015. However, it is unfortunate that no other follow-up has been given in relation to it.

It has yet to be confirmed if Skoda will bring back the body style. As it is part of VAG, the possibility is highly likely especially if the company heads decide to come up with one. It is reported that the parts are already available so not much effort is required from the side of Skoda.

To make the pickup truck possibility plausible, Werner Eichhorn admitted at the Paris Motor Show that a Skoda-branded pickup may be considered. However, the company still has to conduct in-depth study to find out its viability.

The Skoda Vision E Pickup is not be confused with Porsche Mission E. The Vision E Pickup belongs to Skoda's electrification initiatives. If it ever happens, it will come with two electric motors which can do 310 miles.

It is also unsure if the Czech company will ever be bringing the Skoda Vision E Pickup if it ever comes to fruition. With how interesting, efficient, and unique this pickup is, it is expected to be embraced and accepted by US consumers. At this point, the official word from Skoda has yet to be released to determine if this concept may well be translated into a tangible and realistic offering.
