The new 2017 BMW M550d xDrive has been unveiled with extremely powerful specs for a family wagon. The new M550d boasts of its quad-turbocharged, 6-cylinder diesel engine. The best news is that the new model is more affordable than Bugatti Chiron.
The 2017 BMW M550d xDrive has been updated to run with a 3.0-liter inline six using TwinPower (twin vein) turbo technology. It also comes with four turbines producing an insane 294kW and 760Nm. Car enthusiasts can recall that the predecessor already sports the triple-turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine.
With its combined cycle, the engine consumes only 5.9L/100km. The new model also sports an eight-speed automatic gearbox with xDrive all-wheel drive.
The 2017 BMW M550d xDrive is based on the new G30 5 Series which was developed by M Performance, the brand's in-house tuning arm. This enables the new model to perform well not only on straight line instances, but it also functions efficiently like a sports sedan.
Furthermore, the new M550d boasts of its acceleration rate. BMW claims the new sedan accelerates 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Whereas, its Touring wagon variant records a 4.6-second acceleration rate.
On the inside, the new M550d wears the latest luxury features as well. It has the M sports steering wheel, dials, pedals, wide-screen infotainment system integrated with connectivity features.
The 2017 BMW M550d xDrive also comes with superb driving technology features. The new model has Integral Active Steering, M sports suspension, M brakes, M aerodynamics package, and M exhaust. It also comes with 19-inch M alloy wheels with 245/40 front tires and 275/35 rear tires.
Meanwhile, the new M550d is reportedly not set to release in some parts of the globe. Unfortunately, BMW will unlikely offer the new model in Australia.
In another report, the 2017 BMW M550d xDrive is reportedly not coming out in the U.K. The automaker is yet to confirm if the new model will be sold in the U.K. too.
