Xperia XZ And Xperia X Performance Both Receive 7.1.1 Nougat Update

Sony is considered one of the most punctual and diligent in terms of rolling out software updates. Very recently, both the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance get the latest Android update which is expected to be well-received by its users.

Both the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance were also two of the first devices to get the upgrade to Android Nougat that was made available last year. This current update is 650MB in size and has a build number 41.2.A.2.199 and delivers the April 1 Android security patches.

The update has the typical 7.1 Nougat features, however, it did not mention anything specific of Sony. One of this update's noteworthy features is its app shortcuts available for both Sony devices only if used with a compatible launcher.

The 7.1.1 Nougat update was released by Google back in November 2016 which started with Nexus phones a month later. It does come with impressive features such as a new circular icon look from the launcher and the long press app shortcut menu. It also comes with background system updates, multi-window app support, and much more.

It is important to note, however, that users of the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance have to make sure that the phone is fully charged or plugged into a power source before getting the update. Getting the Nougat update is heavy on battery usage. If the phone dies while the update is ongoing, users may have to do it all over again.

Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance users should see a notification saying that the update is available for the device. It is also best to check the software update page to check for its availability.

This should come as good news to the users of both the Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance get the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 update. If Sony continues being the first to get such updates in the future, this surely means more credibility and sales for the brand.
