Last week, Sony revealed its brand new product called Sony Alpha A9, a camera that's loaded with the latest imaging technology by the tech giant. It comes with a brand new full-frame sensor and processor, plus upgraded shooting capabilities.
The A9 is Sony's latest entry into its mirrorless lineup which is more beastly than its siblings. The flagship camera features a 24.2-megapixel, 35 millimeter full-frame CMOS sensors. And it's fast. It can calculate autofocus and autoexposure 60 times per second and capture 20 frames per second in continuous shooting mode.
With its mirrorless shutter, it keeps things silent and vibration free and gives the camera a shutter speed of up to 1/32000 per second. The A9 shoots 4K or 1080p video at 120 frames per second while doing with five-axis in-body image stabilization. Even a person with a shaky hand wouldn't have to worry.
The Sony Alpha A9 also boasts an ISO sensitivity up to 204,800. That's already more than the average person needs for vacation shots.
The company used a compact and sleek magnesium alloy body to seal-coat the A9 for dust resistance. Its body also has dual SD card slots and has a built-in wireless LAN, and capped with an LCD viewfinder with touch focus.
In addition, a BIONX X processing engine will help with the A9's workload. Users can easily relay via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or NFC. LAN connections will be supported through an Ethernet port on the side of the camera.
The A9's sensitivity ranges from ISO 100 to 51,200, while continuous shooting can easily be done at up to 20 fps using the brand new digital shutter. It also offers sublime blackout-free capture to avoid an undesired effect that is usually found in DSLR burst shooting.
Sony will be shipping the new Alpha A9 camera on May 25 in the United States for $4,499. This is the cost of the body alone, as the lenses will have a separate price tag that should be above the $5,000 mark.
