Microsoft Xbox Scorpio News & Updates: Console Price Leaked, Specs, Release Date & More

Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio is another highly anticipated console that promises to be the most powerful console of all time. In fact, the company has claimed that it has a premium hardware set for the enthusiast community. So, let's check out the latest on this upcoming console.

There isn't much detail released by Microsoft for its console, but surely enough it will be available this summer. It could be just ahead of PS4 Pro's launch.

Release date. During last year's E3, Microsoft said that Project Scorpio will have a Holiday 2017 release date. But no other information has surfaced so far to contradict the initial announcement. Thus, most likely the console is still set for that release window.

However, Microsoft will reveal something under the tagline "Learn what's next" on May 2 during the new Microsoft hardware. But there was no indication that this is directly related to Xbox Scorpio. So, let's still continue to assume a holiday 2017 release for the "most powerful console."

Price. This year's E3 is where Microsoft is supposed to reveal Xbox Scorpio's price and other details. However, one retailer was a little too excited and spilled the beans way too early.

XtraLife, a Spanish retailer, was advertising the Microsoft Xbox Scorpio tagged $432.46 or €399 or £335. Assuming that the console is of the premium kind, then it should cost more. In fact, there have been conflicting reports of its price with Microsoft stating that it will cost more than Xbox One S.

"We have not announced the pricing yet, but I want to make sure that the investment we are putting into the product of Scorpio meets the demands of the higher-end consumer and that will be a higher price," said Phil Spencer, Xbox boss.

Specs. The Xbox Scorpio's CPU will have eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and its GPU will have 40 customized compute units clocked at 1172GHz, with a total of 12GB of GGDR5 RAM. It is supposed to be 50 percent faster than the Xbox one with 1TB 2.5 inch hard drive as standard.

Although these are not official numbers as of this writing, these pretty much screams a powerful console. But we will know more about Microsoft Xbox Scorpio at the E3 2017, assuming that Microsoft does make a reveal.
