Grown bigger and longer, the Honda Civic Sedan has given a new design language to the lineup. This 10th generation Civic makes it the second longest wheelbase among the hatchback group with its new platform.
Honda claims that this Civic can go from halt to 62 mph in a matter of 8.3 seconds. It is powered by a four-cylinder 1.5 liter turbocharged i-VTEC engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, and able to deliver 180 bhp at 5500 rpm and a torque output of 177 lbft available from 1900 rpm. A 1.6 liter i-DTEC diesel turbo will add to its engine lineup later this year.
After repositioning the fuel tank, Honda is able to lower the driver seat by 35 mm, the lowest among hatchback rivals, as well as the overall center of gravity by 10 mm. This Sedan has a length of 182.3 in, height of 55.7 in, width of 70.8 in, and a wheelbase of 106.3 in.
This five-passenger auto offers Lane Keeping Assist System and Adaptive Cruise Control in its Driver Assist Technology. It also has active safety features including Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Multi-Angle Rearview Camera.
A 7.0 in touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, sat-nav, upgraded eight-speaker audio system, two USB sockets and one HDMI jack, a DAB tuner, and Wi-Fi hotspot tethering are all installed to pack the entertainment system of the auto. Its exterior is loaded with LED taillights, projector-beam halogen headlights, rear window defroster, intermittent windshield wipers, folding door mirrors and front splash guards.
Despite its huge body, the moderate pace of steering with this hatchback makes it feel like its gliding on the road which proves how much engineering is put in it. Another of its advantages among its rivals is its CO2 emission output of only 133g/km.
This 10th Generation Honda Civic has gone through a lot of improvements since the very first of its blood. Though it had received an underwhelming record from the European market, it may turn its fate with a comeback as it enters the global market.
