Jaguar recently announced that it will start producing new four-cylinder engines in the UK. The heart of the production is at the Engine Manufacturing Center or EMC in the country. This is definitely good news and spells encouraging future for the luxury brand.
The Engine Manufacturing Company facility is reported to receive $1.27 Billion injections. It now serves JLR's three local vehicle plants. This facility is in charge of assembling and putting together the 2.0-liter units which are capable of producing its 148-horspower, 161-horsepower, and 237-horsepower, respectively.
This is also the facility responsible for Jaguar Land Rover's high performance 2.0-liter turbo four which powers the F-Type making it powerful for producing 296-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It also comes in eight-speed automatic transmission.
Jaguar Land Rover also created more jobs because of this latest company development. As per reports, JLR hired an additional 1,400 employees at the EMC plant. The company also highly invested in training, spending a total of 125,000 hours to have all of the new employees on par with JLR's strict company standards.
The EMC plant is also very beneficial for its employees as most of them live with 10-miles from it. Convenience and rigorous training are expected to return outstanding productivity from all of them.
The upcoming E-Pace SUV is reported to use the new Ingenium turbocharged four-cylinder when it is officially unveiled sometime 2018. This is also reported to be manufactured in the EMC plant.
Trevor Leeks, EMC Operations Director said that the start of petrol production marks an important milestone for the plant as they move to providing a suite of ultra-low transmission. High-performance petrol and diesel engines are to power the full Jaguar and Land Rover vehicle line-up.
This is definitely good news for Jaguar as it started producing four-cylinder engines in the UK. Not only does this mean expansion for the company, the newly created 1,400 jobs promise better economy for the country altogether.
