The 2018 Bentley Continental GT has been spied while out on the road. It seems to confirm it will take on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept and the new MSB platform.
The spotted next-generation Continental GT mule was not wearing a heavy camouflage. It seems that majority of the refresh was focused underneath but there were few improvements on the outside as well.
The prototype hints that the new coupe got its inspiration from the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept that was previously introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. The concept was launched as a two-seater sports car and the new GT mule spotted agrees with the concept.
The new GT now has a more sculpted bonnet and the nose has been lowered too. Another major revision is the LED headlamps. Whereas, the rear haunches were retained.
Underneath, the new coupe will take on the redesigned chassis technology. The new GT is expected to use the new MSB platform which was first introduced on the latest Porsche Panamera. This platform is said to have less weight than the one used in the existing GT.
With the new platform, the next-gen Continental GT will have an amazing, super lightweight body. This hints a superfast car is on the way too.
The 2018 Bentley Continental GT is expected to lose about 150 kg with the new MSB platform. The new supercar will trim down much weight as the new platform will utilize the new chassis, aluminum body, and new engines.
The new GT sports the 6.0-liter W12 petrol engine that can deliver 600 bhp. This engine was first utilized in the Bentayga SUV which enables the model to accelerate 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds.
For other options, the automaker also plans to offer the 2018 Continental GT with an improved version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. There might also be a plug-in hybrid variant of the new GT which is reportedly adopting the Panamera E-Hybrid's powertrain. The plug-in hybrid variant of the new GT will most likely have a combined output of 455bhp from the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine integrated with an electric motor.
